POLITICS: Obama Infomercial 10/29

Here's the famous infomercial that Obama aired yesterday, October 29th. It was a commercial that accomplished its goal, provide stories that normal Americans can relate to, showed a humanistic side of Obama and got people talking.

Many news reports question the infomercial, mainly because it was seen as a "presidential-address" before Obama has become presidential. Others argue that the news channels should have disallowed the commercial to air, because it provided a bias 30 minute block and was not necessarily "news-worthy."

Despite the reactions, the infomercial had the highest TV ratings that night, and for a mere cost of $7 million per network, could've swayed key voters.

Here's the video in four different sequences (only way for it to be on youtube).

What do you think of it?

Yo, I want to know whether or not you think Obama's ideas will work? Or is he full of shit?

I trust you, my wise debater, to make that assessment :)

It all sounds good to me...but I don't want to be one of those people eating it all up just because they played some cute music with the video.

networks do not have to fair when they sell the air time. The ability to purchase radio time or television time has been view as forms of expression and that is not supposed to be squashed. If the networks gave away the time and did not allow the opponent the same that would be an issue. I want to know as well, what parts do you think will work, because which of one these guys get elected, inherit a real mess. For myself, I like his ideas on health care and his plan on getting us out of Iraq. His economic plan I feel will slow not stimulate the economy. Which of these are more important? In my mind too many young people starting out on their own, getting off of mom and dad's insurance policy forces them to gamble on low quality insurance in the hopes they do not get sick, or forced into taking a job or career that is not ideal for them but offers the securtiy of insurance because they have current health issues. If someone would take the money from the war and put it to health insurance I would be very happy. Apologies for being long winded, I got on a roll.

emily-
i might be a sucker but i think he'll deliver, i see no reason why he would be so passionate about change and then not do anything in office...he won't be able to deliver 100% of everything he says, no politician can. however, if he does not execute well as president and proves me to be just another sucker, then the country will be set on fire and he won't be re-elected.

jim-
go back to 6th grade and learn your grammar :-)
