SPORTS: Go Rays!

Since I don't have a baseball team to root for (Cincinnati sports theme...), I'm hopping on the Rays' bandwagon.

This is a team that has suffered many years of defeat, playing in a near impossible division. They've been Goliath as the Yankees and Red Sox put hundreds of millions into their rosters. This team is one of the lowest paid in the MLB, but are now in the division championship.

They give me hope that one year the Reds will bust out and reach the playoffs again. The Rays last year were sitting in last place, again. With the inspired play from young players such as Longoria and Iwamura, this team plays with a swagger that is entertaining.

The 2008 season was crazy for the Rays, starting with spring training brawls, then reaching a franchise record for wins and now playing in the division championship.

This year has taught us that the gloves will come out in a Rays-Red Sox showdown. Heated emotions, passion and the hunger for victory will make for great baseball.

Go Rays!
