Headlines are meant to draw in readers' attention so that they will go on to the read the rest of the story. Sometimes a headline will turnoff a reader, make them think or simply make them go hmm..
For example: Flaming squirrel to blame for Californian fire
Hmm.. (Bet you'll keep reading)
The Associated Press reported, "With southern California fighting wind-driven flames and spot fires breaking out across northern California, firefighters have fingered at least one arsonist: an unlucky squirrel.
Redding firefighters say the squirrel set off the blaze when it shorted out a power line, caught fire and dropped into dry vegetation."
I bet you Darwin would have something to say about that squirrel.

Reminds me of Whitey, the famous albino squirrel that lives near my dorm. The first Whitey got eaten by a hawk...so good lucky to Whitey #2
I thought I saw new of this on tv. I heard squirrel and fire used in the same sentence on the weather channel and it definitely got my attention!
The fire began when a squirrel shorted out a power line. Every year in California thousands of wildfires start throughout the state. Flaming Squirrel Blamed for Northern California Wildfire. There is plenty to do today, so be sure to get a head start. The biologists even dig burrows with power augers, giving the squirrels a head start in establishing new homes.
